Cup winners of the Season

Europa Cup 27 May:  SEVILLA won the Europa Cup for the 4th time in their history when they beat Dnipro 3-2 in a hard fought match. Sevilla retained the Cup and also qualify for CL place next season.
English FA Cup: Arsenal strolled through Villa to retain the Cup. Thus Arsene Wenger led The Gunners to surpass the record of 12 Cup wins they shared with Man Utd.

Theo Walcott scored the opening goal for the Gunners.

Copa del Rey: A mesmerising goal from Lionel Messi lead Barcelona to a domestic double and a potential triple in the 3-1 win over Athletico Bilboa.

DFB Pokal: It hurt Jurgen Klopp a lot in his final game in charge when Wolfsburg spoilt his party with B Dortmund by winning 3-1 in the final. It was Wolfsburg first ever Cup win.

EPL Final week

The title, CL places have already been decided. No more excitement left. Only one more relegation place need to be decided, it is either Hull or Newcastle.

Hull vs Man Utd: The Tigers need to win and hope that the Toons result against West Ham at home  is worse in order to avoid relegation. The Red Devils have nothing to play for as they have already achieved their target of qualifying for the CL, except pride.
0-0: Steve Bruce side is relegated after this draw as Newcastle won 2-0 at West Ham.

Falcao will be returning to Monaco after just one season and 4 goals for Utd. Not a success because of injuries and inconsistent form.

Rooney believes that Utd will win next season's Premier title.

Chelsea vs WBA:  It will be celebration at Stamford Bridge.
3-1: As expected, it was a fitting end to the season for Jose Mourinho and his side. Didier Drogba played his last game for the Blues in the Premier league.

Arsenal vs Sunderland: both teams could be going through the motion, though Arsenal would want to catch up with Man City for second.
4-1: Theo Walcott scored a hat trick.

Stoke vs Liverpool: Stoke got their best Premiership standing ever and would want to get one over a'big' team like The Reds who is involved in a tussle with Raheem Sterling the whole week.
6-1: A humiliating end to Steven Gerrard's Liverpool career . The Reds finished 6th after Spurs won

Man City vs Southampton: 2-0 Frank Lampard ended his Premiership career, like Steven Gerrard with a goal but in a totally different circumstance. He played his last Premier league game, so he said.

EPL week 33

Man Utd vs Arsenal:  A match of little significance except for the bragging rights. Even if Utd beat the Gunners, the latter still has a game against Sunderland in hand to stop the Red Devils from catching them.
1:1. not a classic match as both teams seemed to want to wind down the season quickly. Blackett scored an own goal. Utd will surely finish 4th and go into qualifying rounds of CL.

Liverpool vs Palace: this will be an emotional game at Anfield as Stevie G will play his last home game for the Reds after serving them so faithfully during his whole footballing career. Palace is safe from relegation. Thus, do not expect a stiff resistance from them in this game as the Reds bade farewell to their loving son. Brendan Rogers named Gerrard as 'Mr Liverpool'. Appropriate. Meanwhile, the joker of Balotelli is in the news for the wrong reason again....fined for speeding!

1-3: This was not what Gerrard and the Kops wanted to see in Stevie G's last home game. This occasion and game was all about Gerrard, the loyal hometown hero who was not tempted by glory and riches he might achieve elsewhere to stay in Anfield and stayed empty handed (no Premiership crown) after playing more than 700 games with them.  Though they have over 60 % possession, the Reds were comprehensively defeated by the impressive Alan Pardew team after leading through a Lallana goal in the first half.
Again, The 'clown' of Liverpool was not even in the team bench.

Spurs vs Hull: Expect the Tigers to come out fighting for Premiership survival before their last game against Man Utd.
2-0 : No fight from the Tigers who are on the brink of relegation now. They must now win their last game against Man Utd at home and hope that Newcastle and Sunderland do worse.

Swansea vs Man City: The Swans will surely want another big-boys scalp after beating Arsenal last week. The Citizens will want to consolidate their runners up place.
2-4 : the Citizens won after the Swans came back to draw 2-2.

WBA vs Chelsea: the Blues have not beaten WBA at the Hwathorns for the last 3 Premier matches.
0-3: Jose Mourinho blamed Arsenal, Man City & Utd for this defeat, stating that his team won the title so easily, now that  they now became complacent!!!!! He can say anything his big mouth wanted as he had all the bragging rights.

EPL Week 32

Liverpool vs Chelsea : The Reds have their faces red when form a guard of honour for the newly crowned British champion. Brendon Rodgers would want to win this match to put pressure on Man Utd for a CL place.
1-1: Both veteran scored, John Terry for Chelsea before Steven Gerrard equalised. Faint hope of securing a CL place is gone for the Reds as they are now 6 points and an inferior goal difference behind 4th place Utd with 2 games left. The Mario was not even on the bench!!! It showed how far he had dropped in the pecking list.
Steven Gerrard
Stevie G scoring for the Reds, probably for the last time before heading to MLS
Palace vs Man Utd : 1-2 A nervy win with Fellaini heading in the winning goal kept the Red Devils on course for a CL place in the top 4. It was a hard fought win as Palace made a come back in the second half even though the Red Devils had 62% possession. Once again, David de Gea saved the team. It was 'work ethics' said van Gaal, winning after three consecutive defeats.

Stoke vs Spurs: 3-0 Spurs campaign was already tailing off at this stage, no surprise at the loss.

Man City vs QPR: 6-0 Sergio  Aguero's hat trick relegates Rangers.

Arsenal vs Swansea: 0-1 68% possession, 23 shots at goal and yet the Gunners were shocked by a late Gomis goal. They were like The Red Devils this time, all possession but could not kill the game.

EPL Week Labour Day Week

Man Utd vs WBA : van Gaal has to lift his under performing and complacent side to maintain its challenge for CL place. The thrashing by Everton should be a rude wakening call for the players. He would want to avoid a third straight defeat.
0-1 : van Gaal must be tearing his hair in wondering how his dominating side could lose to a single free kick goal. The stats : 80% possession, 26 shots at goal, 9 on target and yet lose could be some sort of statistics. Maybe next time it will be 90%! Last week, he blamed it on complacency, now it must be misfiring forwards instead of the weak defence. Van Persie, back from injury, led the line but fluffed his penalty. Even the  desperate installation of the forward line of Rooney, van Persie, Di Maria and Falcao could do nothing to prevent the Baggies from taking the points to their safety. It is now 3 defeats in succession for the Red Devils, the first time since 2001. Now, they are again contriving to let Liverpool have a glimmer of light for a CL place. Pathetic Red Devils.

Liverpool vs QPR:  Seemed to be a straight forward home win. However, with his misfiring front line, Rodgers will not be betting on that. He is still defending his uninterested, blank firing forward Mario Balotelli saying that he is value for money in a Red shirt. If he is, then the value of wearing a Liverpool shirt had dropped tremendously. What a good laugh.
2-1 : it took a barn storming performance by Stevie G to set up hopes of CL place again with this win. It brought back memories of his best years in the past. Balotelli was not even on the bench, maybe he injured himself.

Chelsea vs Palace: The crowning moment for the Blues at Stamford Bridge.

Eden Hazard again scoring the winning goal in the 1-0 victory.
' Blue is the Colour' , the anthem to describe Chelsea season as they trudge their way to the crown. It is Jose's third for Chelsea. His critics, Pelligrini included, accused his of playing 'boring' or efficient football without any swagger. The 'Special One' would not care as his team continued to shut up their opponent with a solid defensive spine and then winning with the goal scoring of Player of the Season, Eden Hazard.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho
Jose Mourinho showing the way to his fellow managers, all trailing behind him since the start of the season.

Hull vs Arsenal: After giving themselves some breathing space with a win over Liverpool, Steve Bruce side would want to grind out a result to ensure survival in the Premier League against the inform Gunners.
1-3 : Arsene Wenger could end up second best in the Premier League, possibly. This would be the best finish in 10 years.

Spurs vs Man City: Pelligrini would be wishing to maintain the challenge for the second spot and extinguishes the hopes of Spurs for a CL place.
Spurs hope for a CL place is extinguished with this loss. Aguero won the shootout with Harry Kane when he scored the only goal.
