Chengdu Day 9

The last day of the Chengdu Tour was spent on exploring the shopping malls. A very cheap retail place at Chengdu is the Kowloon Plaza. You can find very cheap clothings there. Along the corridors are salesperson wearing the clothes, still price tag hanging out, and modelling them.

Chengdu Trip Day 8 Huanglongxi

Huanglongxi is an ancient town located by a river. Attempts were made to recreate the ancient lifestyle and preserve the old buildings. The entrance area featured many new shops which sell traditional and exotic food eg tingting sweets, fried silkworm, small crabs, beetles, etc. The inner area has older houses. Second picture showed an old woman weaving a straw basket.

Chengdu Day 7 Sichuan Panda Breeding centre

Baby, young and old retired pandas, one can find them at the Sichuan Panda Breeding centre located at Chengdu. The last picture showed a really retired panda in its last stage of life.

Chengdu Day 6 Mt Emei

The misty dreamy scenery of Mt Emei was awesome. There you are among the clouds, floating along high in heavens. The infamous monkeys are found at the lower slopes waiting for victims.

Chengdu Day 5 Leshan

Day 5 saw us making our way to Leshan where the tallest (after the Afgans destroyed theirs) stone carving of Buddha is located. The boat ride made its round on the Leshan River for a magnificant view of the statue.

Chengdu Day 4

Day 4 of our tour saw us descending from the highlands towards lower grounds. We have a short visit to the Sichuan Earthquake disaster area ie the school which was flattened. The place ironically became a tourist attraction now. The number of visitors there was overwhelming as it includes local visitors from other parts of China. The pictures shown the fallen school. the last two pictures showed the newly built school.
