EPL Week 29 April

After the international friendlies and E Cup matches, the EPL stars returned for the final stage of the title challenge.

Man Utd vs Aston Villa: a must win game before the big guns of City, Arsenal and Chelsea loom in the subsequent matches
3-1: left foot control, a swivel, then right foot volley..... A stunning goal by Rooney may not be needed as an Ander Herrera brace won it for the domineering Red Devils. Van Gaal seemed to have found the right formula and formation. Di Maria and Falcao started from the bench. Next... Man City home followed by Chelsea, two big games which will decide the CL places.

Arsenal vs Liverpool: the Gunners would like to consolidate their CL position while they are flying while the Reds must have the result to continue their challenge after the Utd defeat.
4-1: 3 goals in 8 mins killed off Liverpool in a game they must win. It was a canter for the Gunners who always are strong in the closing part of the season. Brendon Rogers stated that it would be difficult to repeat last year's achievement in nailing a CL place after this defeat. Not surprisingly, the Reds are now talking about the importance of winning the FA Cup as they will be meeting Blackburn Rovers in the semi on Wednesday

Chelsea vs Stoke: another stroll for Jose Mourinho team?
2-1: Nothing could stop the Blues, not even the 65yard wonder equalising goal by Charlie Adam.

Crystal Palace vs Man City: Playing on Monday, City would know what they have to do in order to regain their 2nd spot.
Not unexpectedly, the Citizens lost 1-2 at Palace. Alan Pardew continued his Palace revival. The Citizens would now be meeting their neighbour in an apprehensive mood next week, given their poor form recently.

Burnley vs Spurs: don't be surprised by a Burnley victory.
0-0, as expected, Turf Moor is not an easy place to play in. The Spurs players looked exhausted. Looks like their challenge for a CL place is beyond them.
